Earlier this year, it was announced to the M Community that long-time MFH Board Member Dave Downey would retire from the Board at the end of this year. Dave participated in his last Board meeting on December 7, bringing to a close a tenure of leadership that spanned nearly three decades.

Dave Downey

The impact of Dave’s thoughtful approach, his bias for action, and his ability to bring simplicity and clarity to complex topics on M’s progress and success in a variety of areas has been significant, meaningful, and will be lasting.

Dave is an exemplary leader—within M, within the industry, and within his community—and the way he values people has endeared him to many. And let’s not forget that Dave is a college basketball legend who is a member of the Illinois Illini All-Century Team and whose Illini single-game scoring record of 53 points (set in 1963) still stands today.

Dave will remain an active and productive member of the M Community, leading his Firm, mentoring those who seek out his wisdom, and providing perspective as we forge M’s future.

Eric Naison-Phillips

With very big shoes to fill, the MFH Board unanimously approved the recommendation of the Nominating Committee to elect and appoint Eric Naison-Phillips to the Board, effective January 1, 2018.

Eric is a Principal of Winged Keel Group in New York and San Francisco. He joined the Firm as a Client Relationship Associate in 2003, advancing into the role of Director of Portfolio Design before becoming a Principal in 2009. He focuses on structuring, implementing, and servicing traditional and private placement life insurance portfolios designed to meet the unique needs of ultra-affluent families.

Among other charitable activities, Eric is a co-founder of Bulldogs Care Foundation, which supports young men and women as they pursue personal development through programs in athletics, education, and mentoring. With his wife, Laura, a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Eric is also an avid supporter of the performing arts and a founding member of TaylorNEXT, expanding accessibility of unique behind-the-scenes experiences to young patrons.

Additionally, Eric is the grandson of Harry Phillips, a legendary leader in the life insurance industry. Harry was a mentor of Dave’s and has had a tremendous impact on Dave’s life and career.

Please join us in extending our most sincere thanks to Dave for his years of service and his past, current, and future contributions, and in acknowledging Eric’s commitment to M as he joins the MFH Board.
